I really like this idea! Especially when the static images are large and take up so much room on the page that it just ruins the aesthetics. I'll talk to the team this week to see how hard this would be to start implementing on service pages!

For before and afters, we've tested this, and Chris's whole mission of "keep it simple for the user" is what led us to having the current version of the before and afters side by side. Clients often like the look you just showed us, and we reply with a "it looks really cool, but our whole marketing philosophy is to keep them side by side, with less steps for the user to see the before and afters."
