Posting to Facebook: Also is there a way to schedule posts so the article is framed nicely and not rough like this. See attachments (right and wrong) . I do not want to see any visible links and the only hashtag I would like to see on facebook is #shapearmy -
Can we make sure that all images we use to save as draft or that we select to use in shared articles are squares that measure at least 600 width and not less than 500 ideally images that are 600x600 up to 1200x1200 are fine. If they are smaller they look small on facebook. Also it would be ideal if we used images that did not show logos or brands or links.
Glad you are on board - I look forward to you helping you out with the workflow. Thanks
There are over 100 drafts for Natalie to go through when she has a chance. I have managed to frame the photos, especially for Facebook posts. At the moment, there are links in the message box which will be removed once Natalie has approved the posts. Then I can set the post for the specific social network.
Excuse me about this, to make it simple for Natalie (and us) I added all the social sites to the post. When Natalie approves the post, I will then alter the message (add #shapearmy to Facebook posts only, remove links in messages etc).
If I didn't assign the draft a social site, it would be impossible for me to create that 'frame effect' for the post. Also, each social site allows you to do different things from Hootsuite. E.g. Hootsuite lets you select the image for Facebook, but not for Google +. So I left the links in the message box for now, so I am sure I won't lose the post until it is officially published. I know you don't want the links there, but don't worry they won't be there when the post goes public. Also, I've changed the above Facebook post 'How to Lose an Extra Half-Pound a Week!' to the image attached.
I've liked shapearmy and my email is amandasltn3@gmail.com so you can add me as admin. I have accepted the Pinterest invitation and will hold back until you give me further instructions on what you'd like me to pin.
I'll wait till you and Natalie get back to me with the approved drafts and move on from there.
Thanks,
Amanda
Great work. You did a great job finding great content. My concern is it takes too long to see via drafts for us to approve. Could you list some of your sources where you are finding the funny stuff, then I will have someone scrape all the pics - then I will put them though a program to add a logo then share them with you to schedule. I would also like you to search for quick funny fitness videos that we could share to help build our following.
Funny fitness images convert really well. I put out an ad to have someone scrape all the images so we can clean them, add our overlays, - these will be very helpful to building the FB page and instagram - if you find any good sources please add them here. Thanks
I basically add funny workout pics to Google and search like a maniac to find good ones in the fastest time possible.
If you click on any on the images on hootsuite and then right click a small window will come up. Then click on "search Google for this image" and this will bring you to the image's sources.
If you are seeking somebody to add the brand logo and sharpen the images I am interested. For Photoshop work I usually charge $5.70 (this includes UpWork fees) per hour.
I did a couple to show you some examples of what I can do using Photoshop. I didn't have the exact template of the 'SHAPE ARMY' logo, but I just looked at it and tried to copy it the best I could for the sake of giving you an example. The images attached have the hashtag Shapearmy and have been sharpened.
I am currently scheduling posts on Hootsuite. I have an issue with Instagram, since it requires the user to set up publishing to share with Instagram.
Basically, Hootsuite requires the user (Natalie) to enter her cell phone number to somehow link Hootsuite,Instagram and the cell phone together.
Once publishing has been set, everytime I schedule an Instagram post from the Hootsuite account, Natalie will receive a notification on her cell phone. It will ask her whether she would like to cancel this post, or else view it.
When Natalie views the Instagram post on her cell phone, on the bottom of her cell phone screen there will be written "Open In Instagram". This will take you to Instagram's filters.
After Natalie has adjusted the filters on the image to her liking, she can do a double tap and the message which I had written in Hootsuite will appear. Then she can press "OK" and it will finally post the message accordingly.
I really don't know if I am making sense right now, because the way Hootsuite set up Instagram sounds too complicated to be true. Therefore, here is a 4 minute tutorial of someone trying to create a post.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_2299Lf4wM
I am going to continue scheduling posts to go out on Facebook, Twitter and Google + while we all try to get Instagram sorted out. It is really just a case of Natalie installing apps on her cell, linking the account and giving an "OK" to each Instagram that's scheduled.
Thanks,
Amanda
I have scheduled posts on Facebook,Twitter and Google + from tomorrow till Wednesday 7th October. When you can, take a look at them.
I have taken the initiative to use Photoshop to sharpen the images and add #shapearmy tag.
Thanks.
Nice work on you have done.
Images -
I put a job out on odesk so someone can scrape google images. If you know a way to quickly do it let me know. Once the image is downloaded I want the image data erased (exif, meta) then renamed. Then uploaded to Flickr or a photos site where we can select what we want quickly and you can download from there and post. I want the ability to look at big images and select the ones I want. Hoosuite does not allow that. So if you have other ideas let me know.
A few things:
1. Twitter posts should all have images like https://twitter.com/mensfitness - I saw some with and some without images
2. Facebook:
a) please make sure that the scheduled funny quotes go out at 1pm and 3pm EST. Those are the ideal times for shares.
b) article from the other publications (Shape, Fitnessmagazine, etc.) one time a day.
c) Natalie - will post our content manually on facebook from shapearmy.com or she will schedule.
3) Tumblr and what is our pinterest link to our main board. - what is the login I cannot get in or find the URL on Tumblr
4) Natalie - could you set up a Flickr account - we will need to set up a Yahoo account.
Thanks guys

I don't mind scraping the google images. I have a web scraper app that can help me do this. Then I'll just erase the data image, rename and probably tweak the photo e.g. sharpening the image.
Twitter
The images should be fine. The first one I have scheduled comes out today at 12:15 PM American/Phoenix time. I have noticed some posts have come out that aren't displaying an image, which I have not scheduled.
If I notice the tweets I've scheduled aren't displaying images, I will quickly rectify this. However, I have tripled checked the Hootsuite setting for the Twitter account to make sure it has been set to pic.twitter and that all relevant images have been attached. (Cross fingers.)
Facebook
It's sorted. The posts are scheduled at the optimal times based on this site: http://www.adweek.com/socialtimes/best-time-to-post-social-media/504222
Tumblr
I still need to sort out. I cannot access this account. Are these credentials correct? email: shapearmyweb@gmail.com password:Fit4Life#
Please let me know. I want to start working on Tumblr next week.
Pinterest
At the moment I am currently using my Pinterest login to pin the Shapearmy board, since the boards were conveniently shared with me. From my end, I am getting many, in fact too many, notifications on the likes and repins of what I have been pinning on the Shapearmy Pinterest boards. At the moment, I am trying to amp the ante with Shapearmy on Pinterest and add keyword hashtags, which includes Shapearmy. I am aggressively building up these boards. Like I said, since I am logging in using my own Pinterest account to access the shared boards, I don't have the username and password to access the Shapearmy account directly. However, it would be nice to have it.
Thanks
Now that the content is consistent - we need to focus on building engagement (more followers)
Thanks
Chris
