Alright, I kind of figured that but wanted to make sure. 
I believe we should be running a 301 redirect Isaac. But I will defer to Whitney and Ivonne since they are privy to background dealings with this peculiar client. 
I will add go.dermsc.com to the uptimerobot monitors now.

Isaac  why would we need to set up a redirect if we barely got any traction on that domain? Would there be a reason, as opposed to just not using it?

There's a ton of reasons to do a 301 redirect. 
For one, if we do not do it, any backlinks going to that site or any articles, pages, will be 404 which is not good for SEO. 
Second, even if this client only gets 20 visitors a month to that domain, it is still 20. 
Third, unless they are cancelling the site completely - selling the domain - we should do the 301. 
Fourth, a redirect will pass all of the Domain rating - juice - onto the new site.. which is new and will need it...

Also, perhaps this client will likely be upset if they clicked on their domain which they had for a while and saw it not working. They do not understand all of our website lingo and reasons for doing things.

We bought one week ago. The day after we bought it, the client said he doesn't want it. We were going to use it for their microsite. But they figured out how to use their current domain dermsc.com. So, we will not be renewing our purchase, or we'll use it for another client.

Well that changes everything then Ivonne... I thought this domain belonged to the client and that they had it for a while.
