We received an email from the client saying that several pages are leading to a 404 error.
Can you please check them out?

They just sent me this email.
It appears the issue is happening with many pages.
Can you please figure out what is going and try to fix this when you get a chance?
Here's the last email client sent me.

OK it's actually almost all the pages - I think they were just named differently on the new site? Here are some examples just googling pages at random:

Google sinusitis ENT center stamford tries to take you to https://stamfordentcenter.com/procedures/sinus-surgery-and-allergies/

Additionally for some reason the meta title/header for https://stamfordentcenter.com/neck-mass/ is "Allergy Testing + Treatment" instead of Neck mass.

All of the provider links google tries to send people to are now broken as well, example:
https://stamfordentcenter.com/meet-us/providers/dr-jacquelyn-brewer/

https://stamfordentcenter.com/meet-us/providers/dr-richard-tilton/

https://stamfordentcenter.com/meet-us/providers/dr-biana-g-lanson/

as well as the others

It looks like the "meet us" page was renamed "about" for example google tries to take people to "https://stamfordentcenter.com/meet-us/" which is broken.

Also, I think for simplicity sake, we'd prefer to not have the hover over effect for the header links. For example when you hover over "about us" it shows providers and audiologists. When you click about us it takes you to a similar page, which is redundant. Would prefer just to remove that hover over effect completely. The only one that needs a hover over is the Procedures one. EVen patient portal can be removed.

I'll try to look at things more carefully tomorrow but I think this is a good starting point. Thanks for you help working out the kinks in the transfer, everything looks great and we really appreciate your help.

- It's because as the client stated in his email we have used different URLs for the pages on the new website. This is a very very major issue that I have noticed we have started to make on the websites we build for our clients.

Earlier I recall we used to first crawl the client's existing whole website and create a spreadsheet with all the links in the site map before beginning any work on the new website. It's very important to do this so that we can cross-check all the links on the new website before launching and not have 404 errors on the google indexed pages and most importantly retain organic SEO juice. Also, this way we don't have to worry about 301 redirections either. Any reason we don't do that anymore?

I have now added 301 on the links that the client shared in his email.

https://stamfordentcenter.com/neck-mass/ is "Allergy Testing + Treatment" instead of Neck mass.

The client is right here. We had duplicated meta tag added on this page. I have now removed it. Please add new.

I have now updated the menu links as per the client's comments in his email.

- Will need your help on this. Can you please go here to site:stamfordentcenter.com and list all the links that are coming up as 404 in a spreadsheet along with the new link in the second column. I will check and setup 301 on all of them. Thank you.

Good morning.
I do not understand how we can move an entire site over and not anticipate these issues.
We should absolutely do what suggested with any clients we are going to make a site for our clients.
Can you please set up a protocol to make sure we do this next time?
It makes no sense not to do it earlier - if we are going to have to do once the transfer is done afterwards. Worse yet, it will lead to issues with the client once they see the pages getting 404.
Keep me updated so I can inform client once we have taken care of this.

- I have now added 301 from the google indexed 404 links to the pages we have on the new website but I can see we don't have many pages on the new website. Not sure if we missed them or the client didn't want them on the new website or if that content was added to the service pages themselves. I would recommend you check the sheet

Wasn't this page on the Go.stamfordsite at some point as well?
If so, then is that on us that it is now 404?

I said resume, but I meant to say his accomplishments. It is the same BIO they had for him before.
It is also the same bio they have for all other Doctors on the about us pages.
