Hearing aids and hearing loss
 Hearing loss is a common problem people in their 60s and 70s develop. Patients often have trouble hearing in loud spaces. Often it seems as if patients can hear the sounds but can’t quite make out the words.
There are different types of hearing loss. One cause, called a conductive hearing loss, is caused by an inability of sound to get to the inner ear. It may be caused by wax in your ear canal or fluid behind your ear drum. Another type of hearing loss is called sensorineural hearing loss, which is often age related or from loud noises. It is caused by a decrease in the ability of the inner ear to sense sounds coming from the outside world. This type of hearing loss tends to worsen over time.
Sometimes the cause of hearing loss can be fixed, leading to your hearing to be restored. Other times, a hearing aid is the right solution.
