Facial Acupuncture 

Acupuncture follows the theories of traditional Chinese medicine, based on the idea that energy follows through the human body in the form of “chi” or “qi”.

This energy flows along meridians throughout the body. These meridians can be accessed through specific locations, or acupuncture points to relieve specific symptoms. 

During treatment, Mina Kim gently accesses these points using thin, sterile, disposable needles. This restores balance to the flow of chi in a patient’s body. 

Acupuncture is often used to manage symptoms related to weight loss, digestive issues, chronic pain or stress management. 

The effects of acupuncture on facial muscles will reset the muscle, improving elasticity and circulation to the area. Treating the face with acupuncture needles forces collagen production to the area. It also aids in the elimination of toxins from the body. 

Mina Kim first conducts a wellness assessment. She then outlines a treatment plan customized to your specific needs. You will then lie down on a comfortable table. Several, very thin, sterile needles will be applied to the selected acupuncture points. 

The needles will stay in place for several minutes and sometimes receive additional stimulation through Micro Current Therapy. This triggers the body’s production of amino acids and ATP, promoting the creation of new cells. 

Mina Kim may also recommend the use of Cupping, Gua-Sha facial massage, and LED light treatments in combination with your acupuncture procedure. These features help to improve blood circulation to the area, facilitating the healing process. 

After the initial insertion of the needle, there will be a quick moment of discomfort. However, once this feeling subsides, acupuncture is a relatively painless procedure. The number of treatments needed depends on the condition treated and the needs of the individual. Acute problems will require multiple treatments over the course of several weeks. During your initial consultation, Mina Kim will discuss your unique treatment plan with you.
