I'm guessing we add the analytics to the GTM right?

Actually, they are 2 different tracking implementation methods. We can connect them to the GTM using a Tag or container. Or we can add the Analytics code to the specific site, then connect it to Google ads specific account.

Yeah, it can be confusing and worse yet, it is constantly changing. 
Once the Bodymorph site is in place, these things will fall into place and we will be set.
