About Jennifer Gafnea:
Jennifer Gafnea, CRNP
Jennifer is a resident of Bessemer, Alabama, and a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has been in the field of nursing since 2008 and began practicing medicine in 2013. Jennifer also holds a BS in political science with a minor in Spanish.
Jennifer has a 21-year history of dance with a concentration in ballet, including teaching at the Master’s Academy of Fine Arts. Prior to medicine, Jennifer was certified as a fitness instructor through AFAA.
With a nursing career that began in cardiology, she was well primed to transition to a primary care practitioner. In addition to family and geriatric medicine, Jennifer is trained and certified in aesthetics, and over the last decade, she has treated thousands of patients in and around Shelby County, Alabama. Patients now travel several hundred miles for her expertise in primary care and hormone replacement therapy.
Because of her extensive background, she has been called upon as a legal nurse consultant specializing in wrongful death.
Jennifer has an extensive history of volunteer work over the last 25 years, including counseling for Sav-A-Life, acting as a court-appointed special advocate for children (CASA) through DHR, and providing rescue and outreach for sexually trafficked victims.
Jennifer has recently created the Rachel C. Long Foundation for Mothers of Autistic Children. The foundation provides educational opportunities for caregivers of children with disabilities.
In her free time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her boyfriend Jesse, her three children, Dylan, Savanna, and Farrah, her granddaughter Adaline Jane (aka AJ, aka Binky), her two dogs, one cat, and many ducks.

Eyelash Extensions, Lash Lift and Tint, and Brow Lamination

  • Classic Eyelash Extensions
    • Classic eyelash extensions are a simple, beautiful, natural-looking lash style. They are applied on a 1:1 ratio, which means one extension is attached to one natural lash. This gives you a natural looking lash.
    • Classic eyelash extensions can be a range of materials, thicknesses and styles. Classic eyelash application usually takes around 1.5 to 2 hours and the results should be soft, natural-looking lashes. They won’t add as much in the way of volume, as they will in length.
    • These lashes will always look more natural as they are designed to mimic the way your natural lashes look – the fullness that can be achieved depends a lot on how many natural lashes you have.  If you don’t have lots of natural lashes, even 100% coverage may not look as full as it would on somebody else.
    • Think of classic lashes as simply an enhancement of your natural lashes: like you’re wearing a very good mascara that doesn’t smudge, smear or come off when you wash your face.
  • Volume Eyelash Extensions
    • Volume eyelash extensions vary from the natural look which adds more length than volume. Volume lashes instead give a fuller, thicker lash look. The lashes range from 2D-6D – meaning 2 fake lashes to 6 fake lashes per one natural lash. It typically takes 2-4 hours depending on whether or not the technician uses pre-made fans.
  • Hybrid Eyelash Extensions
    • Hybrid lashes are a 70:30 mixture of both volume lashes vs classic. Choosing hybrid extensions gives your clients the best of both worlds. The look is achieved by mixing classic lashes and volume lashes placed strategically to frame the eyes. Hybrid extensions offer a variety of texture and more volume, but without the sometimes slightly unnatural look of volume lashes. For the clients that want a lash line with a bit more volume but not quite as full as volume extensions, then this is the style to choose.
    • Hybrid sets can still look very natural, depending on the ratio of classic to volume your stylist chooses, and the size/shape of the volume fan used.  These sets usually give a more textured or full look, meaning if you like your lashes to look neat and perfectly even, it may not fully suit.
    • However, hybrid lashes are a great starting point for those classic lash wearers wanting a bit more fullness, or for clients who don’t have a lot of natural lashes and find classic lashes look too natural or even gappy.
    • Many stylists love hybrid sets because of the flexibility that allows them to be as creative as they like.  Outside the guidelines of safe application, there are really no rules to the styling of a hybrid set, meaning it can really be moulded to your face!
  • Lash Lift + Tint
    • One of the simplest ways to change your look is with a lash lift and tint. After the quick, painless, and affordable treatment, your eyes will look instantly brighter and more open, making you seem more youthful and awake. Plus, your lashes will get that sexy curl and flutter you’ve always wanted! Think of it like permanently curling your lashes and applying mascara that never wears off.
    • A lash lift-and-tint treatment involves two separate processes, both designed to give you beautiful, fluttery eyelashes for weeks. The lash lift mimics the effect of an eyelash curler. It makes your lashes bend upwards, leaving them looking longer, and your eyes more open and bright. Meanwhile, a lash tint is similar to a brow tint – or applying several coats of mascara. It makes your eyelashes look darker, thicker, and fuller. It’s particularly striking on those with naturally blonde or red lashes.
  • Brow Lamination 
    • Brow lamination is a new, innovative beauty treatment that has continued to grow in popularity, recreating the trending look of thick, bushy brows. Brow lamination is great for those who love a ‘brushed-up' look but can’t seem to tame their brow hair due to it being too straight or fine.
