Whitney asked me to take a look at Medstar's website. I see these nonindex/not-index. However, upon inspection those are intentionally set like that, because they are <rss> aka 'tag' 'feed' pages from my understanding.
Isaac
There are a few 404 though.
Thanks for your reply if I am understanding correctly about <rss> and for looking into these when you can.
I tried to search a few of the blogs and they aren't coming up in google, even though they are indexed, even with exact phrasing.
I was looking at the metadata on some of the most recent blogs and I am suspicious, because they aren't written very well. I am going to bring these to the attention of the writers, I believe they provided them. Hector has been suggesting that this could be a cause, I think he's right.
Additionally there are over 1k negatively affected back-links.
Isaac, it is on our paid account.
The SOFT 404s are not indexable pages -

The other 404s are pages that also do not need to be indexed. ((You could make an exception for Chris author- maybe))

The other Crawled - currently not indexed - are all RSS Feed, etc.
On the blog posts not showing up, that is an issue going on with many clients, not just Medstarmedia.com
And yes, partly it is because of the meta descriptions. Also because Google is picky about what they will index since they have so much content to choose from. And because they simply do what they want when they want.
We need to focus on getting the blog posts ignore by Google indexed on smaller search engines. Then do other things to force Google to index them.
here's Medstar last report on their site audit.
You can see the real issues we may need to address below.
Do you already have something put together somewhere that you are tracking the blogs/clients that are having these same issues with the metadata? How can I support to ensure these things get corrected? I know you have been speaking to this adamantly. I want to help.

FIXED
Any idea why these other pages are coming up on GSC as 404 when they are not indexable?
